Ciampa chopped the hell out of Thatcher while stuck between the ropes and caught him with Willow's Bell after locking in a guillotine for the win. Ciampa went on a run with a superplex and nearly took Thatcher out with a chokehold, but Thatcher escaped with a German suplex. Timothy Thatcher: Much slower and more methodical than the first match, Ciampa and Thatcher focused on mat wrestling and strikes. Balor has been unable to defend the title due to facial injuries suffered in his last match against Kyle O'Reilly at the previous TakeOver. If the men top this, it will be an all-time show. This match was absolutely insane and proved it likely should have been in the main event. After some more back and forth, Gonzalez caught Shirai between the rings and hit her finisher one-handed slam through a ladder propped between the ring ropes for the final 1-2-3. Blackheart placed LaRae between two chairs and flew off a ladder went a senton but could not recover for the fall. Moon hit a ridiculous Eclipse on Kai atop two standing chairs, and Storm followed with Storm Zero on Moon through a trash can. She hit a moonsault on Gonzalez, but the heels broke the fall and then Kai put a trash can around Shirai and double-stomped her from the top rope, getting the can stuck on the champion's body. Indi Hartwell attacked Shirai from behind outside and then locked the cage door, but Shirai soon appeared atop the cage, put a garbage can over her body and flew off onto everyone else below. Shirai slid two ladders in but kept being forcibly denied entry. Storm entered with kendo sticks and evened things out. Ripley brutalized Kai with weapons and then brawled with Gonzalez. Blackheart brought an entire toolbox into the ring, Gonzalez gave the heels the momentum with her size, and then Ripley came in to reverse it. What went down Sunday night from the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida? Keep on reading for full results, analysis and grades from NXT TakeOver: WarGames. However, there was a greater focus on the wrestling aspect of the match, and the eight men absolutely delivered. The main event men's match saw a less surprising finish, and the action was toned down from a brutality standpoint. The finish was a surprise for some viewers as it defied expectations. The women's match that opened the event was filled with brutality, including endless weapon usage and spots unlike we have seen before from them in this stipulation bout. That was indeed the case Sunday night as the WarGames matches that bookended the show both delivered in vastly different ways. But as is commonplace with NXT's signature events, even TakeOvers without the strongest builds somehow exceed expectations.

Luckily, for the former MMA fighter, Baszler was quick to roll over and fell down on the ground, and avoided a severe non-kayfabe injury to herself.
